Compare personal, installment and payday loans

An online loan is requested over the internet, but its cost and repayment structure depend on the product. These descriptions explain the differences; they are not a list of offers guaranteed to be available through the form.

For personal expenses

Personal loans online

A personal loan may help cover an expense such as a car repair, a medical bill or debt consolidation, subject to the lender’s permitted uses. Many personal loans are repaid in installments. An unsecured personal loan does not require collateral; a secured loan does. Check which arrangement an offer uses.

Compare: the amount you receive, APR, any origination fee, payment schedule and total repayment cost. A lower payment alone does not mean a cheaper loan.

Scheduled repayments

Installment loans online

An installment loan is repaid through a series of scheduled payments. The lender sets the payment frequency and term. Personal loans and installment loans can describe the same product.

Compare: each payment amount, the number of payments and whether the rate or payment can change. A longer term may reduce each payment while increasing the total cost.

Short-term borrowing

Payday loans online

A payday loan is typically a small, short-term loan due around your next payday, often in one payment. Fees can make this an expensive way to borrow, and availability and limits vary by state.

Compare: the full amount due, due date, APR and late-payment terms. Check whether you can repay it while still covering essential expenses, without borrowing again.

The $200–$5,000 request range does not apply to every loan type or lender. A loan’s actual agreement determines its costs and repayment obligations.

Small online loans: choose the amount you need

Start with the cost you need to cover and subtract any funds you can use without borrowing. The partner form groups requests into the ranges below. These are request options, not approved offers or product-specific limits.

$200–$500
For a smaller gap, such as a $300 or $500 expense, check how much fees add to the amount you borrow and whether repayment falls before your next income arrives.
$500–$1,000
If you need a $750 or $1,000 loan, confirm the cash you would actually receive after any deducted fees and the full amount due on each payment date.
$1,000–$2,500
A $1,500, $2,000 or $2,500 request may cover a larger bill. Compare a repayment schedule against your regular expenses, rather than choosing only by the amount offered.
$2,500–$5,000
For a $3,000, $4,000 or $5,000 request, review the total cost over the entire term. Not every lender offers the top of this range, and payday limits may be much lower.

Personal loan uses: repairs, bills and other expenses

An expense does not always require its own loan product. A personal loan may be used for several purposes if the lender permits them. Consider these checks before taking on a new payment.

Emergency loans for unexpected expenses

For an urgent expense, compare the bill’s deadline with the lender’s actual funding date. An emergency loan can still involve verification and bank processing; ask the bill provider whether a payment extension is available.

Car repair loans

Get a repair estimate before deciding how much to request. Using a personal loan for a repair is different from financing a vehicle purchase or taking a loan against a car title. Confirm the lender permits the intended use.

Medical and dental expenses

Before considering a loan for medical bills or dental work, ask the provider about financial assistance and payment plans. Compare their terms with the APR, fees and payment schedule of any personal loan offer.

Home improvement and repair loans

A permitted personal loan use may include a smaller repair or appliance replacement. Check the project estimate and the available amount. A personal loan for home repairs is a different product from a mortgage or home equity loan.

Debt consolidation and credit card balances

Debt consolidation means using a new loan to repay existing debts. Compare the new APR, fees and total repayment cost with what you already owe. A longer term can lower the payment while increasing overall interest; consolidation does not erase debt.

Rent, utilities and moving expenses

If borrowing would cover a temporary shortfall, include the new payment in next month’s budget. For a recurring gap, ask about assistance or a payment arrangement before adding debt. The lender determines whether your intended use is allowed.

A repair bill can be urgent. This short story shows why the repayment date and the cost of extending a loan deserve just as much attention as the cash amount.

How the online loan request works

FastLoansUp provides information and access to a partner request form. The provider and any participating lender handle the next steps.

  1. Complete the request

Choose the amount you need and provide accurate information. Read the form’s authorizations before submitting. A request starts the process; it is not an approval.

  2. Review any available offer

If connected with a lender, check its identity, APR, fees, payment dates and total amount repayable. The lender may ask for more information or documents before making a decision.

  3. Decide whether to accept

Accept a loan agreement only if you understand and can meet its terms. If approved and accepted, funding is arranged by the lender. Transfer timing depends on the lender and your bank.

What you may need to request a loan

Requirements depend on the lender, product and state. The form or lender may ask for the following information to assess your request:

  • Proof of identity, age and residential address.
  • Contact details and a Social Security number.
  • Information about income, employment or other income sources.
  • Bank account details for any approved disbursement and agreed repayments.

Providing these details does not guarantee eligibility or approval. Follow the requirements shown in the form and any lender disclosures.

Online loans with bad credit

A lower credit score may narrow your options or lead to higher costs. A lender may consider income and existing obligations as well as credit history, but each lender makes its own decision.

Fair credit, poor credit and no credit history describe different situations. Having little or no borrowing history is not the same as having missed payments, and a lender may assess these profiles differently.

FastLoansUp does not guarantee approval for bad credit or any other credit profile.

No credit check loans: what to know before applying

Looking for a loan without a credit check often means wanting to protect your score or find options with limited credit history. FastLoansUp does not promise a no-credit-check application: the provider or lender may review your credit under the authorization presented in the form.

Soft credit check loans and prequalification

A soft inquiry does not affect your credit score, but it is still a credit inquiry. A soft check used for an initial assessment does not guarantee approval or mean that a lender will never perform a hard check later.

Hard inquiries and lender verification

A hard inquiry can affect your score. Before continuing an application, ask which checks the lender uses and when. Identity or income verification may also be required, even when a product is advertised without a traditional credit check.

For personal loans, installment loans or payday loans, check the actual credit authorization instead of relying on the product name. Learn about soft and hard credit inquiries from the CFPB.

Fast loans and same-day funding: what affects timing?

A quick online loan request is only the first step. The lender must decide whether to approve the application, complete any verification and arrange a transfer after you accept its agreement.

If you need money today, confirm the lender’s cutoff time and expected deposit date before relying on an offer. Same-day loans, next-business-day funding and instant deposits are not interchangeable promises. FastLoansUp does not guarantee any of these timelines.

Before planning around a deposit

  • Check whether the decision is final or subject to more documents.
  • Confirm when an accepted loan will be sent and how it will be delivered.
  • Allow for your bank’s processing time, weekends and holidays.
  • Keep the lender’s contact details for questions about a transfer.

Compare the full cost of an online loan

When looking for low-interest personal loans or the best online loan for your budget, compare the offer you actually qualify for. FastLoansUp does not set interest rates, fees or repayment terms, and an advertised starting rate may not be your rate.

Plan payment dates alongside the bills you already need to cover.
APR and fees
The annual percentage rate expresses borrowing costs as a yearly rate and includes interest and certain fees. Also check origination charges, late fees and any prepayment terms.
Amount you actually receive
Check whether a fee is deducted before the money reaches you. The cash you receive may be less than the loan’s stated principal.
Total amount repayable
Look beyond the payment size. Compare how much you will repay over the full term, including applicable interest and fees.
Payment dates and affordability
Confirm the number, amount and timing of payments. Leave room in your budget for housing, food, utilities and existing obligations.

Before borrowing for an emergency

Check the funding date with the lender. If a bill is urgent, also ask the provider about a payment plan or extension and compare any lower-cost options available from your bank or credit union.

Installment loans with monthly payments

A monthly payment can be easier to plan around if it aligns with your income, but the lender may require weekly, biweekly or another payment schedule. For longer-term loans, compare the total number of payments and interest over the full term. The form does not promise a particular term or payment frequency.

Short-term loans and next-payday repayments

A short term gives you less time to repay. If a payday or other cash loan requires one payment, budget for the full balance and fees on that date. Do not assume you can extend or refinance it; check the agreement and whether repayment would leave enough for your essential expenses.

General information, with independent sources linked in our guides. How this website works

Online loan questions, answered

Understand what happens before, during and after a request.

Is FastLoansUp a direct lender?

No. FastLoansUp is an affiliate website that provides loan information and access to a third-party loan request form. We do not lend money, approve applications or set loan terms. We may earn a commission from our partners when you use their services.

How much can I request online?

The partner service accepts requests from $200 to $5,000. This is a request range, not a promise of funding. A lender may offer a lower amount or decline your request. Limits depend on the loan product, your circumstances and your state; payday loan limits may be much lower.

What is the difference between personal, installment and payday loans?

A personal loan describes borrowing for personal expenses. An installment loan is repaid through a series of scheduled payments, and many personal loans are installment loans. A payday loan is typically a smaller, short-term loan due around your next payday, often in one payment. These categories can overlap, so compare the actual agreement.

Can I request a loan with bad credit?

You can submit a request, but bad credit may limit your options or increase your borrowing costs. Lenders set their own criteria and may consider your income, existing debts and credit history. Submitting the form does not guarantee a match, an offer or approval.

Will a loan request affect my credit score?

The request process may involve a soft credit inquiry, but a lender may also perform a hard inquiry when reviewing an application. A hard inquiry can affect your credit score. Read the credit authorization in the form and ask the lender which checks it will use before proceeding.

Can I get a same-day loan or instant funding?

Same-day approval or funding is not guaranteed. Timing depends on the lender’s decision, any documents it needs, when you accept the agreement and your bank’s processing schedule. Weekends, holidays and additional verification may delay a transfer.

Can I get a loan with no credit check?

FastLoansUp does not promise no credit check loans. A soft inquiry and a hard inquiry are different types of credit checks; a soft inquiry is not the same as no check. The provider or lender may review your credit as described in the form’s authorization. Confirm the process before applying.

Are instant approval or guaranteed approval loans available here?

We do not guarantee instant approval or approval for every applicant. A lender may need to verify your identity, income or other details before deciding. An initial response or prequalification is not necessarily final approval, and approval is separate from the transfer of funds.

Can I request a $500, $1,000 or $5,000 loan?

Those amounts fall within the partner form’s $200–$5,000 request range. Select the range that contains the amount you need. Exact amounts, loan types and eligibility depend on the lender and your state. The maximum request amount is not available from every lender or for every product.

Can I request a loan if I am self-employed or unemployed?

The lender decides which income sources it accepts. If you are self-employed, it may ask for bank statements or other evidence of income. If you are unemployed, it may assess other income you receive. Neither status guarantees eligibility, and the form is not a promise of a loan without income verification.

Are cash advance loans the same as payday loans?

A payday loan may be described as a cash advance loan, but “cash advance” can also mean a credit card advance or an advance on earned wages. These products have different costs and repayment rules. Check the actual agreement; this form does not promise every type of cash advance service.

Can an installment loan have monthly payments?

It can, but not every installment loan uses monthly payments. The agreement may specify a different frequency. Check the amount and date of each payment, the number of installments and whether the rate or payment can change before accepting.

What APR, fees and repayment terms will I receive?

The lender determines your APR, fees, payment amounts and repayment schedule. There is no single rate or term for every borrower or loan type. Review the lender’s disclosures and total amount repayable before accepting an offer. FastLoansUp does not set these terms.

Are all loan types available in every state?

No. Product availability, loan limits and lender participation vary by state. Personal, installment or payday options described on this page may not be available to you. Your request may not result in any offer.

Does submitting a request mean I have accepted a loan?

Submitting a request is not the same as accepting a loan agreement. You may be asked to continue with a lender or another provider. Read the terms at each step, and review the loan agreement before deciding whether to accept it.

Is a home improvement loan the same as a mortgage loan?

No. Using a personal loan for a permitted home repair is different from getting a mortgage to buy or refinance a home. This page presents a $200–$5,000 request form for personal, installment and payday options; it is not advertised as a mortgage application. For mortgage loans, home equity financing or mortgage refinancing, use a provider that specifically offers the product you need.

Who receives the information I enter in the form?

The embedded form is operated by a third-party provider. Information you submit may be shared with lenders and other partners as described in the form’s privacy notices and authorizations. Review those notices, including any contact permissions, before submitting your details.
